My uncles, Bob and Drew (below), turned 50 and we celebrated at Drew and Bill's house on Sunday.

I was asked to give a roast, er toast, to celebrate their birthday and here's what I came up with:

A list of some of the things that we (Michael, Marissa and I) learned from having Bob and Drew as Uncles:

1. No matter how cheesy moustaches that Michael and I might grow are, they will never be as bad as the Boys'.

2. Apparently, Clairol has a whole range of color products for men.

3. Bikes that are built on Christmas Eve while drunk must be re-built the next morning.

4. Superman is a fictional character. A tatoo, apparently, does not change that fact.

5. We learned all the words to the theme song from "Welcome Back Kotter".

6. It is possible to eat and drink all you want and still look anorexic.

7. Passing out at any age is never pretty.

8. Christmas shopping at Fredericks of Hollywood for your aunt is apparently okay.

9. Naming black and white dogs Ebony and Ivory is not as cute as it sounds. Even if the dogs are.

10. And, finally:
- The cost Jello shots at the OD*: $1.00
- The cost of sea monkeys; $12.00
- The cost of 28 tickets to Star Wars in 1977: $84.00
- The cost of therapy for Michael, Marissa, and I: Probably
in the millions
- Having Bob and Drew as uncles (especially when we can catch it
on video: PRICELESS!!

Happy Birthday Guys!!!

I cannot describe how happy I am - excited doesn't come close, ecstatic is closer, but still does quite hit the mark, that Anita has agreed to be my wife!!!

The proposal took place on the beach in Wildwood Crest, NJ on Friday night, July 7, 2006 around 9:45pm. We walked out on the beach and after evading cops on ATVs, fireworks and zombies (long story), I finally managed to get to a spot where I could ask her. I drew a (very bad) picture of ring in the sand and asked her what it was. When she asked, "Is it a ring?", I said, "No, this is a ring", pulled out the engagement ring I had purchased, dropped down on one knee and asked her to marry me.

Lucky for, she said, "Yes", and made me the luckiest man in the world!!!

I love you, Sweetheart!! I guess this'll mean changes to the blog. Stay tuned for information on the plans as we begin preparing for the wedding!

So, it's Thursday night, January 5th, and I had registered for an Open House at the Penn State Great Valley Campus to check out their Masters Degree programs.

I approached the School of Engineering table that has the MS in Information Science degree to get some information and a gentleman asked if he could answer any questions for me. At this point I didn't even know where to begin other than the fact that I was interested in the MSIS degree. As it turns out, the man was Dr. David Russell and not only is he the head of the School of Engineering, but he developed the MSIS program at Great Valley.

After about 10 minutes of discussing the program, he lets me know that classes start the next week and if I'm really interested, I could be accepted in time to start right away. Wow. I'll admit I was floored, but there's no time like the present (although as a procrastinator, I don't often say that - in fact, I don't think I've ever said that before, Anita must be rubbing off on me...), so I agreed to give it a shot.

The deal is, you have to apply first as a non-degree candidate (which only take a day or so) to be able to register for classes then you apply for entrance into the degree program (which takes a few weeks to complete).

As of today, Monday, January 9th, I have been accepted as a non-degree student and have registered for my first two classes towards my Masters Degree!! I have also formally applied for admittance into the MSIS program, which I hope to receive by the end of the month. In addition to that, by the end of the year, my intention is to apply, again, for a concurrent degree and also work towards my MBA. In two years (Spring of 2008), I should receive my MSIS degree and my MBA two years after that.

Wow. This is happening really fast!! But it's very cool!! Now I'm really glad that I stayed up until 1:30am to see the whole Orange Bowl (is it just a coincidence that the last time I applied for Penn State - when I was in high school, it was right after they won their last national championship??).

So now the Nittany Lion can count me, once again, as one of the Blue and White faithful. Long Live JoePa!!

Kris, Brendan, Anita and I hosted the 2005 New Years Eve party at Kris and Brendan's house on New Year's Eve. After a quick stop at Irish Dave and Christine's house for a pre-party warmup, we headed over to Jersey to celebrate the New Year. The party theme was holiday themed Martinis ("The Grinch", "The Santa", some blue one whose name I don't remember right now, and Chocolate martinis).

Pics of the party can be found here.

Kevin and Nicole (and Brad, seen above in his James Bond pose - don't worry, that's sparkling apple juice he's drinking, I think) came down from State College on their way to Atlantic City for the Polar Bear Plunge (brrr!), fireworks were launched (luckily, no damage done although a few did fly very close to houses, vehicles and people).

We rang in the New Year, played a couple of rounds of Werewolf (if you've never played and have a big group of people at a party - more than 8, I suggest you check it out. You can find a review of the game here.

New Years Day involved a bit of Texas Hold 'em, a bit of Pirates Cove (another great board game, in my opinion), a lot of food and a lot of Advil. :)

A great time was had by all, and it was an awesome way to ring in the New Year!!!

The weekend began with Puppy Love - checking out Danny and Joanna's new puppy, Rubia (named for the spanish word for Blond, Rubio). Needless to say, Rubi is very very cute...

We spent Saturday with the puppy and at my parents' house in Sea Isle City for dinner (did I mention dessert at Ice Cream Alley?). Sunday, I played some golf in the morning with Dad, Clark, and Chris, then to the beach and some late night game playing.

Monday, July 4, was my birthday, so we played some tennis, went to the beach and then the fireworks display in Sea Isle city. It was a great weekend and an excellent way to spend my birthday!

I cannot think of a better way to spend a birthday or anyone I would rather spend it with...

Well, our second weekend at the beach has come and gone. We got down to Wildwood Crest late Friday night, and pretty much crashed once we got there.

Saturday was fairly easy. Anita and her family went to the beach for the day while Brendan and I hung about the house (I ended up sleeping most of the afternoon). Then the four of us (Anita, her sister Kris, her brother-in-law Brendan, and myself) took on babysitting their niece (Gigi) and nephews (Danny and Nathan) (plus the kids of two friends visiting from Pittsburgh - Alex and AJ). After chasing Gigi around for a few hours, she went to bed and we took the boys for a walk to Ice Cream Alley, then (once we were all cleaned up) we started a game of Settlers of Cataan and were playing that when all the parents came home, kept playing until after all the parents were in bed, then finally little Danny won the game (ugh - Anita and I were SOO close to winning) and we went back to the house and crashed.

More pcs of Gigi are here.

On Sunday, we slept in a bit, and Danny, Joanna and Gigi came over for a visit. Read the paper, relaxed for a couple of hours then Anita and I left early to head back home for the Bernhardts' 50th anniversary party. What a great time we had at the party (not to mention all weekend).

(Check out the old neighborhood dancing it up!!)

More pics from the Bernhardt's part are here.

Anita and I just finished our first beach weekend of 2005! We arrived in Wildwood Crest around 11:30pm Friday night. Saturday morning, Anita went to the gym while I read out on the deck. Then afternoon at the beach, and Anita's neice's 2nd Birthday party in the evening (pictures here).

<img border=0 src="http://www.jimkimmel.net/gallery/albums/18-19June2005/18_19June2005_076.sized.jpg"

Sunday started out kind of crappy, so we played some tennis early on, watched Anita's nephew, Danny, learn how to waterski, then up to my parent's house in Sea Isle for Fathers day.

Not too shabby for the first beach weekend (finally!) of the year!

NEW: Wedding pictures from Kathy Zimmerman (Pam's Aunt) are in the gallery here

My pictures are online. Check them out here.. I should also mention that a BIG HUGE THANKS goes to Anita for taking most of these while I was busy in the wedding!!

And I think I speak for everyone on the Kimmel side of the family when I say that the Zimmermans and friends really showed us a wonderful time in St. Louis. Thanks to all of you, too!

Marissa's pictures can be found here.

An excellent time was had by all over Memorial Day weekend celebrating my brother's marriage to Pam Zimmerman.

The wedding took place on Sunday, May 29th in St. Louis, MO. For the rehearsal dinner Saturday night, we put together a DVD with pictures from Mike and Pam growing up. You can access a computer version of the video here.

The rehearsal dinner was held at the Mad Art Gallery (across the street from the Anheiser-Busch brewery) and the wedding itself was held at the St. Louis Natural History Museum.

As I said, more details to follow (including pics), so stay tuned...
